10th Annual Earth Day Celebration April 17, 2010
The 10th Annual Earth Day Celebration in South Park is hosted by the Waste Reduction and Recycling Division. The celebration features live music, children's activities and food fendors. Attendees are invited to learn from exhibits about waste reduction, recycling, composting, alternative fuels and vehicles, energy conservation, land preservation, wildlife and habitat preservation and more.

Art Tougeau Parade May 22, 2010
Lawrence's own wheeled art parade will roll down Massachusetts Street for the 13th year with its unusual assortment of rolling works of art. The parade features imaginatively decorated cars, bicycles, lawn mowers, wheelchairs or any number of bizaar inventions on wheels. The event kicks off with a pre-parade party on the roof of the New Hampshire Street garage with music, food and fun while participants decorate their cars, bikes, skateboards and more. A post-parade block party allows you to get up close and personal with the entries and their creators.

City Band Concerts May 26, June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, July 7 and 14, 2010
The Lawrence City Band, sponsored by LPRD with assistance from the Rice Foundation, will present this annual concert series at 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the William Kelly Bandstand in historic South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St. There is no charge to attend. The band is conducted by Bob Foster.

Downtown Lawrence Holiday Lighting Ceremony and Santa’s Arrival November 26, 2010
Join us in Downtown Lawrence where the holiday comes alive with our Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony. The evening begins with singing by local choral groups as we anxiously await the arrival of Santa on the rooftop of Weaver’s Department Store. Once rescued from the roof by the Lawrence Fire Department, Santa will visit with children.
